Sector Context

The global gold mining market produces approximately 3,500 tonnes of primary gold annually with a market value of $250B+. The industry is structurally bifurcated: around 25 senior major producers (Newmont, Barrick, Agnico Eagle, Kinross, AngloGold Ashanti) generate over 60% of global production — around 1,200 Junior gold companies in exploration and resource definition phase generate over 60% of all new discoveries.

This asymmetric pipeline dynamic (major production vs. junior discovery) is why Junior coverage is structurally important. Major replacement reserves come from Junior acquisitions — whoever tracks the Junior pipeline knows the M&A targets of the next 5 years.

Mineralis currently covers four companies as reference anchors: one mid-tier producer with a high-grade underground operation (Lundin Gold), two senior majors (Barrick, Newmont), and one senior mid-tier with a multi-jurisdictional portfolio (Agnico Eagle).
