Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the key questions on Mineralis, the MAS-Score, Junior Miners and our AI-native research methodology.
What is Mineralis?
Mineralis is an AI-native equity research platform for global mining and energy stocks. We specialize in the roughly 3,000 Junior Miners (market capitalization under $500M) that are structurally underserved by generalist platforms such as Bloomberg and Refinitiv. Mineralis is a product of digital opua GmbH, based in Walchwil ZG, Switzerland.
How does the MAS-Score (Mining Asset Score) work?
The MAS-Score is a transparent 8-factor valuation per mining company. Each sub-score (Geology, Capital, Management, Jurisdiction, Stage, Permitting, Catalysts, Promotional Risk) carries its own value from 0-100, with an AI-generated explanation and source citation to the underlying public filings. Currently 3 of 8 sub-scores are live (Geology, Capital, Management) — the remaining 5 follow in v0.2. Detailed methodology: /methodology/mas-score.
Which companies are currently covered?
In private beta (as of May 2026), four companies are live and indexed: Lundin Gold (TSX:LUG), Barrick Gold (NYSE:GOLD), Newmont (NYSE:NEM) and Agnico Eagle (NYSE:AEM). The coverage target is roughly 5,000 mining and energy companies globally. Roadmap: Phase 1 Gold (Q2-Q4 2026), Phase 2 Critical Minerals such as lithium, copper and rare earths (Q4 2026), Phase 3 Energy (2027).
What are Junior Miners and why do they matter?
Junior Miners are mining companies with a market capitalization under roughly $500M, typically in the exploration or resource-definition phase. They generate more than 60 percent of all new mineral discoveries worldwide each year and are therefore critical to the pipeline of the major mining companies. Generalist equity research platforms do not cover them structurally — the coverage-cost vs coverage-revenue ratio does not pencil out for analyst-driven models.
How does Mineralis differ from Bloomberg, Refinitiv and AlphaSense?
Three primary differences: (1) Coverage-First — we cover the 3,000+ Junior Miners that generalist platforms skip. (2) Transparency — every MAS-Score value carries an AI explanation with clickable source citations to NI 43-101 reports, 10-Ks and MD&As; no black-box valuation. (3) AI Hallucination Guard — a deterministic Numbers-Guard blocks fabricated figures in AI outputs, which is critical for investment decisions.
Which data sources does Mineralis use?
Exclusively publicly available filings: SEDAR+ (Canada), EDGAR (USA), ASX filings (Australia), LSE announcements (UK), JSE SENS (South Africa). Specifically indexed: NI 43-101 Technical Reports, 10-K annual reports, MD&A quarterly reports and proxy circulars. No material non-public information (MNPI), no insider-trading-relevant material. All data is audit-trail-ready via clickable source citations.
How does Mineralis prevent AI hallucinations on investment-relevant numbers?
Before every AI explanation, a deterministic Numbers-Guard runs: every number mentioned in the explanation is validated against the source input data. If the AI fabricates a number that does not appear in the input (for example '$650M cash' instead of the real '$412M cash'), the explanation is blocked and replaced by a deterministic template. Fail-closed pattern: on a guard trip we do NOT 'best-effort approximate' — the uncertain statement is removed.
Where is Mineralis hosted? What about data protection?
Fully EU-hosted: Vercel region fra1 (Frankfurt) for compute, Neon Postgres aws-eu-central-1 (Frankfurt) for the database, Qdrant Cloud aws-eu-central-1 for vector embeddings, GCP europe-west6 (Zurich) for ML pipelines. nDSG-compliant (Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection, in force since 2023-09-01). No data sale, no tracking without consent, no lock-in to US hyperscalers. Operated by digital opua GmbH in Walchwil ZG.
What does Mineralis cost?
Currently in private beta — pricing will be announced with the GA launch (planned Q4 2026). Planned tiers: Independent Researcher (solo analyst, mining newsletter author) at roughly $3,000-5,000 per year; Family Office ($50M-$5B AuM) at roughly $15,000-30,000 per seat per year; Fund/Institutional (>$5B AuM, multi-seat) from $50,000 per year. Early beta users receive a 50% discount on the first year after GA.
When will the Discovery Radar launch?
The Discovery Radar — real-time detection of drill results, permitting events, resource updates and M&A — is planned for Q4 2026. Every event includes a confidence score (0-100), a historical comparison to similar events over the past 24 months and push notifications to beta subscribers via email, webhook or Slack. Beta users receive early access ahead of the GA launch.
